The Weekly Post: from DTWOF: The Blog
This week's post, which appears on page 54A of the new Seven Days, is from Alison Bechdel's Dykes to Watch Out For blog. In it, she describes a visit to an lgbt-friendly church in Dallas on a book tour she took last week. I like the post because it's well-written, and presents a view of queer folks, church-goers and Texans that you don't see much of in the Vermont media.
Alert readers will notice my name under the heading "contributors" on Alison's blog. That's because Alison is my friend and mentor; I've been working a few hours a month as her assistant for the past couple years, and am about to hand the job over to some new person this month. I wondered whether I should spotlight her blog in the paper, given my relationship to her, and decided that it was ok. It's not like she's just my friend — she's also an internationally known cartoonist with her own wikipedia page, in both English and Swedish. And her post is worth reading. If anybody has a problem with this, we can discuss it in the comments.
Runner-up for the week is Yankunian's "Hatemongering" Second Vermont Republic post, from The Vermizzle. I didn't put it in the paper because I've already given it so much space online, and plenty of other folks have linked to it, as well they should.
