12 miners dead, media gets it wrong
This morning, I woke up to a front-page headline in my Burlington Free Press that said 12 of the 13 W.V. miners who had been trapped had been found alive. Sadly it turns out that's not true. Just one man made it out alive, and he's in critical condition. The BFP and a number of other papers and news outlets ran with the wrong story. The BFP now has an update on their website, but, curiously, nothing to mark it as a correction.
I guess the Mainstream Media sometimes falls victim to rumor and speculation, same as the blogosphere.
