When you care enough to send the very best.

Pop quiz time!

Question: If you're diagnosed with a sexually transmitted disease, what's the first thing you should do after seeing your doctor and starting treatment?

Answer: TELL YOUR PAST SEXUAL PARTNERS TO GET TESTED.

Picture_2 While I know this sounds completely logical to you, my level-headed and responsible readers, some people just can't bring themselves to warn others who may have been exposed. Contacting old partners only to be the bearer of bad news can be frightening and embarrassing.

Luckily the folks at the San Francisco Internet Sexuality Information Services teamed up with the city's Department of Public Health to bring you InSpot.org — a site where you can send anonymous E-Cards to prior partners, warning them about your STD and urging them to get tested. The site currently only lists health links for a handful of cities and states, but you can send an anonymous card anywhere.

Hey, if phone, email, text or fax doesn't work for you — here's one more way to do the right thing.

Be safe. Be responsible.

Yeesh. Do you have to be authenticated by your healthcare provider in order to send one, or can anyone send one to anyone? That's a good idea in theory, but opens up so much potential for abuse, you know? A disgruntled ex could really turn someone's life upside with a false notification... but I guess it's good to prompt people to get tested even if it is a false alarm. Then the ex could be sued for malicious mischief or something.

I think it's a great service. Thanks for spreading the word MM.

We at ISIS (Internet Sexuality Information Services) wanted to let you know about a new contest we are running (and Thank you for running the Fresh Focus contest it was amazingly successful!)

The new contest is called In Brief: What if Your Undies had the Last Word… We are asking people to design a pair of underwear that communicates a difficult truth about STDs or that can serve as a conversation starter about safe sex. We are imagining underwear as the last physical thing that separates a person from their partner. It would make a strong statement to have a message there that could remind people to talk with their partner about safe sex practices or that brings up STDs (which are often difficult to do in sexual situations-when you need to the most) in a non-threatening way. And user generated content is a great way for people to start thinking about their underwear and more importantly what is under the underwear.
The start date of the contest is April 3 and runs through May 15. http://www.undiescontest.com

Please feel free to contact me if you have any other questions.
