The Blier Watch Project*

Ok, so I finally had time to make phone calls and investigate the Blier Watch site. I didn't find out much. The FBI says they won't comment on whether or not there's an investigation, and the woman I spoke with at the FCC says "we don't regulate the internet." Kevin Blier's not saying if he's going to file a lawsuit, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's thinking about it.

In other words, the investigation rumors may be true, they may not, I couldn't find out for sure.

I wrote a story this week about Blier Watch regardless. Feel free to use this thread to let me know what you think.

*I'm indebted to Bill Simmon for suggesting the title of this post.

< Odum, a straight man who worked to defeat an anti-gay proposal in Oregon in the early 1990s, sympathizes with Blier Watch. >

"Straight man?"

I thought I was usually the funny one!

[listening for laughs]....or maybe not.

You can also follow this AP plagiarizes Blogs story. Somehow it seems to me like the "we do not credit blogs" policy is, um, lacking.

You might have had better luck if you'd tried the FEC.

That's what she said! I called the FCC because that's the agency that Will Chamberlain referred to.

Regardless, the agent I spoke with at the FBI said that unless a lawsuit had been filed, I would not be able to find out if there's an ongoing investigation. As far as I know, Kevin has not filed a lawsuit. At least, that's what he has led me to believe. I have not double checked with all the relevant authorities. But I have no reason to believe that he's filed a lawsuit as of last week.

There's probably a lesson somewhere in that, no?

You might want to call the FAA.

Just in case they want to blog on a plane or something ...

Sorry -- had to make a joke that was worse than Odum's.
