I saw the Meatrix in an Evolutionary Biology class I took at UVM. My prof. showed it during our section on GMO's. I stopped eating meat for about a week. (Maybe I should watch it more often!)

I would urge all those who eat food to learn more about NAIS (National Animal Identification System) and Premise ID. We are looking at the possability of ALL animals (including pets) being implanted with chips. This is being foisted upon us under the guise of 'protecting' us from avian bird flu or mad cow disease. Mad cow disease resulted from feeding ground-up cattle to cows. Avain bird flu will most probably arrive on our shores via an infected migratory bird. How does microchipping our pets do anything to prevent its transmission?

NAIS and Premise ID will sink the small farmer in favor of large corporate farms-the primery source of unsanitary methods of meat production. Please investigate this threat to our way of life as the Vermont AG Comittee is looking into these intrusive measures with the possability of implementing them. Let your voice be heard that we need not only rebuke NAIS and Premise ID, but should look at making Vermont a GMO-free State. It would only help our local economy as there is a large demand for quality when it comes to food. Learn more by visiting No NAIS convieniently located in the list of Vermont Blogs in the sidebar.

Huh!?

One would think most everyone who does eat and is not on a purely liquid diet, eats food, no?

You must have meant to write eat meat, correct Peter?

Speaking of NAIS (National Animal Identification System) [per Peter Stevenson's comment post above], for those who are not already aware of it, VPR's Switchboard program this evening (Thursday, April 6, 2006) at 7:00 PM [EDT] will focus on NAIS, here.

Besides tuning in via radio, people outside the VPR listening area can also listen in via online streaming via the VPR main page. In addition, anyone who misses the live broadcast can listen to the archived podcast of the show once it is posted on the Switchboard program's page(s).
