Winooski River Slideshow
Well, here it is, our third attempt at an audio slideshow. Feel free to compare and contrast it with the Burlington Free Press' latest slideshow, featuring Magician Tom Joyce.
I thought my audio turned out ok, though we're pricing a new recorder. I won't describe the methods we used to transfer the WMA file to the editing program and to Soundslides, but suffice it to say I don't ever want to do it again.
Incidentally, the Times Argus is also running a series about the Winooski River this summer. Thanks, Heather, for the tip.

I must admit I was prepared to be wowed by your audio slideshow, but it doesn't play. So I guess that's the comparison I can draw.

Don't know why it didn't work for you... it works for me. Anybody else have a problem?

I couldn't get it to play either, so I manually went through it. I got to see the photos that way, but there was no sound.
I hate to say this but the Tom Joyce one worked fine.

Well, that's what I get for inviting the comparison!
I have no idea why it's not working for you. It's working fine for everybody in my office.
Web guy Don says maybe it's not working for you because your internet connection is slow. Or maybe it has something to do with your browser. Maybe you need to let it sit for a few minutes while the audio loads.
We didn't get any feedback about the last two not working, and we did this one essentially the same way. See if you can play this slideshow about the missile silos.
Weird.

Thanks for a great slide show. I went to school with Tom at MSJ in Rutland. We're actually having our 25th reunion this September and I've taken the liberty of linking to that slide show from our reunion website. I also noted on that website that, for those of us who remained in Rutland, there aren't many of us who have not had Tom perform for our kids' birthday at least once.

Okay, I don't get it. The Tom Joyce one and the missile silo one both worked. I have cable internet, so I doubt it's my connection. I left it up to see if it needed longer to load. Nothing.
It might have something to do with my security settings because there is a security warning that pops up, but I clicked on "yes" to allow it.
I give up.
On the bright side, I watched the missile silo one and it was so good. Too bad you didn't have a camera crew because you could have made a totally great documentary about your trip. Very thought provoking.

Hmmm... good idea, Cathy! (secret wink indicating inside joke--not about you, Charity, but about that very subject)

Thanks for being so persistent in your trouble-shooting, Charity. It would have been cool to have had a camera crew along, but sadly that's a wee ambitious for me yet. I haven't given up on the idea of some kind of multimedia thing with the silos, but I still have to spend time writing news stories--that is, after all, why they pay me.
