Harry Potter Weekend

Willymckay Went to the Harry Potter Muggle Madness Party at the Flying Pig in Shelburne on Friday night. I would have blogged about it, but I was too busy reading the book (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, with an "a," which I misspelled last week in our calendar spotlight and on our newsletter. Duh.)

Finished it last night around 11 or so. Wow, what a whirlwind!

This is a picture of Willy McKay of North Ferrisburgh, who stood behind me in line. He's dressed as Harry Potter. Obviously.

Mr McKay is so serious...
Looks like a fun time.

That was quite a reading marathon. Wingnut actually offered to stop reading his new copy so that I could read it! How many 11 year olds do that? We went to Hardwick for the copy. I'm still tired.

I noticed that this blog-world was strangely quiet yesterday. Even the streets of Barton seemed quiet when I went down to the village for groceries. It was quite a phenomenon.

Nice to see you and Eva at the event in Shelburne. A remarkable scene handled very nicely by the Flying Pig owners. After my 10 YO got our family copy, we went to Dennys for a Philly cheese steak. People were pouring in, most clutching copies of the new book, many reading while eating their superultramaxi greasy food. We left our copy in the car. We got home around 1:30 AM and my 15 YO absconded with the book and didn't stop reading until he finished around 10 AM Saturday AM.

I would have finished the book sooner, but I had to help my friend rip the roof off one of her barns in Fairfield (Sat and Sunday). And we had an awesome 7D staff party in Jeffersonville Saturday night.

And I was writing a short piece on the event for the paper.

And I was watching Graham and cleaning the house.

Actually, it's a miracle I got any reading done at all.

Nice to see you, too, Richard!

My friend was in Boston and pre-ordered her book so she could pick it up while on vacation. She said the Boston subways were full of people clutching Harry Potter books. What a crazy weekend!

PS Richard, I think your son is in the video vlog about the night!? The kid's reactions were just SO awesome! Made me smile all evening long!
