Final Thoughts from Nectar's
As someone who has frequented Nectar's since moving to Burlington in 1991, I have to say two things just happened I don't think I've witnessed in this bar before: The singing of the National Anthem (loudly and proudly!) and hearing the word "Amen!" after Rev. Joseph Lowery gave his blessing to Pres. Obama's inauguration.
Folks are clearing out and going back to something called "work." As if.
And, by the way, the gravy fries were awesome — as always.
Big shout out to Damon and the crew here at Nectar's. They sure know how to throw a good party.
In the words of my 10-year-old, Phin, who has been my trusty assistant all morning to watch this historic event, "It was awesome ... And, there goes Cheney."
Nectar's was at maximum occupancy by the time I got there at 11:45, so I went over and watched at Contois in City Hall, which was also packed. Glad I got to take an hour off to witness history, regardless of where. I arrived back here at work (wherever that is) to an email telling folks to stop streaming the speech because they were crashing the network. I'd say interest in this day's events is extremely high.
By the way... Did John Roberts f*ck up administering the oath? That was weird.

Yep, Haik, Chief Justice John Roberts blew the oath. Thirty six words. It's in the Constitution.
"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."
Roberts moved the word "faithfully" after "United States" and then later when he tried to correct it (after Pres. Barack Obama gave him time to fix his flub) he swapped the word "to" for "of" in "President of the United States."
I can only hear it now from Limbaugh et al — Oathgate! He's not really the President! Bush is still in!
Oi.

John Roberts blew the oath
That's infuriating. Roberts should resign in shame.
