Speaking Volumes installs vintage photobooth

Photobooth Speaking Volumes, a first-rate records and antique shop on Pine Street in Burlington, has a new vintage photobooth.

A what? If you're curious to know what a photobooth is, or what it says about American culture, consult American Photobooth, a newish book by Burlington photographer Näkki Goranin. Or last February's Seven Days cover story about her epic and artsy research project.

According to today's Art Map Burlington newsletter, Speaking Volumes' booth is one of only 200 working photobooths in the country.

How long is it going to be there for?

Good question. Their number is 540-0107.

I LOVE photo booths! I got my wife an awesome photobooth book for Christmas called "Lost & Found at the Musee Mecanique." It's a collection of 35 years' worth of photos left behind at a San Francisco photobooth by the pier. Try: if you want one. It's interesting to see the different fashions over the years, plus everyone making the same kind of faces all along...
