Video: Squirrel Stew

The latest Bite Club TV was months in the making. It was almost a year ago that my videographer Elizabeth Rossano first told me that her stepfather, John Mowad, hunted squirrels. As soon as the season kicked in, we were eager to head into Mowad's super-secret patch of woods. Weather prevented us from making it until around Thanksgiving. By then, the season was almost over and squirrels were scarce.

Nonetheless, on January 1, I started the year by attending a rip-roarin', fiddle-playin', square-dancin' party at the fabulous, antique-filled Willow Moon Farm in Plainfield. And there, I had my first taste of Mowad's famous squirrel stew.

Want to know what it tastes like? Watch the video to find out. I'll tell you one thing: It does not taste like chicken.
