Monday, March 4
- Gov. Peter Shumlin is in Rutland all morning, starting with a legislative breakfast with business leaders at 7:45, and ending with a tour of the Strafford Technical Center at 11:30.
- What could be more political than maple syrup? Not much — at least in Vermont. Today, Vermont Public Radio's "Vermont Edition" tackles the coming changes to the maple grading system Vermont uses in a segment called "Goodbye Fancy, Hello Golden Color." Listen live.

Tuesday, March 5
- It's Town Meeting Day, and your pals at Seven Days have got you covered. At 5:25 p.m., tune into Channel 17 where 7D writer Kevin J. Kelley will preview the races to watch with CCTV's Matt Kelly. After that, Seven Days and Channel 17 will be cohosting a live blog (on our homepage) pulling in TMD results from all over — and we want you to join the fun. Among the races we'll be covering: Burlington City Council races in wards 1, 2 and 7; and South Burlington City Council races.
- Gov. Shumlin hits up three town meetings in Windham County before ending up in his hometown of Putney at 11:50 a.m. But will he stay to vote?
- Lt. Gov. Phil Scott has just one Town Meeting visit on his official schedule: Berlin, where he'll be from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
- Burlington Mayor Miro Weinberger will be at August First bakery from 1 to 3 p.m. for a "#BTVtmd Mayoral Town Meeting Tweet-up."
Wednesday, March 6
- At 8 a.m., Burlington Police Chief Mike Schirling holds court at the Bagel Café on North Avenue in Hizzoner's stead for the weekly "mornings with Miro" custom. Weinberger will be in New Orleans Wednesday through Friday for the Mayors' Institute on City Design. Guess that whole Mardi Gras parade thing had an impact.
- At 9:30 a.m., the Senate Judiciary Committee (chaired by U.S. Sen. Patrick Leahy) holds a hearing in D.C. on "Oversight of the U.S. Department of Justice," at which Attorney General Eric Holder will be mercilessly grilled — excuse me, politely questioned.
- At 10:30, Gov. Shumlin holds his weekly press conference at a location TBA. Memo to the press corps: This time, ask him if he's running for pope.
- Middlebury College is hosting an all-day conference titled "Beyond Divestment: Money and Finance for a Living Economy — Fixing the Future." Among the slated speakers: climate-change crusader Bill McKibben and New Economics Institute president Bob Massie talking about "a new economy and divestment"; Alice Maggio from Berkshares and Deneene Brockington from Equal Dollars discussing local currencies; former JP Morgan managing director (and CEO and founder of Capital Institute) John Fullerton discussing the future of sustainable finance; and David Brancaccio from NPR's "Marketplace" on "fixing the future." - At 8 p.m., Sister Helen Prejean, author of Dead Man Walking: An Eyewitness Account of the Death Penalty in the United States, will give a talk titled "Dead Man Walking: The Journey Continues," at St. Michael's College in the McCarthy Arts Center. Free and public.
Friday, March 8
- On "Brunch with Bernie," Thom Hartmann talks with Sen. Bernie Sanders live at 3 p.m. on WDEV 96.1 FM. Uh, a little late for brunch, dontcha think, senator? Watch it live.
- As always, get your VT politics fix with Stewart Ledbetter and crew on "Vermont This Week," 7:30 p.m. on Vermont Public Television.
