AC/DC: Watch For Falling Integrity

Howdy Solid State.

I had been planning a recap of my epic Saturday night about town for today. But then I realized that my one year performance evaluation — yes, it's really been a year — was due like, last Friday. Guess I'll have to lower my grade in the "meets deadlines" field. Anyway, I'll fill you folks in on recap stuff — and why I am once again "allowed" to write about Activists/Dictators — tomorrow. Sorry, Brad.

In the meantime, Mistress Maeve forwarded along this Reuters story about AC/DC releasing their upcoming album exclusively through Wal Mart. You read that correctly. Fucking Wal Mart. According to the article, the band joins the illustrious company of Garth Brooks, Journey and The Eagles as iconic pop acts who've sold their souls to that quintessentially American testament to over-consumption. Too bad I already blew my "economic stimulus" check. I could have bought, like, 250 copies. Sigh . . .

Man, I love The first incarnation of AC/DC. Bon Scott was the fuckin' man. Even the first couple Brian Johnson records are pretty good. Seriously though, I'm sorry, isn't it about time for these guys to hang up their boots?

bigbadbrad

Dan, I wait with baited breath for your explanation.

When the heck is Bill going to be finished with his "Pants' projects, for heavens sakes?

Tyler M

Agreed.
An AC/DC album being released in 2008 is its own integrity killer. Where it's being released is just a bonus punch line.

ben

that song they put out maybe 3 or 4 years ago that said "i feel safe in New York City" was pretty cool.

casey

Selling CDs -- how quaint!

Awesome, but irrelevant. (but fucking awesome....and awesomer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kqo_uMnwlww)
Everybody should have longer instrument cables (those led loco douches, too.)

Cooley

Um, no. Not irrelevant. Pure fantastic rock and roll will always rule over smalltown music blogs. Sorry.

tybo

Well, of course VH1's 4th Greatest Artist of Hard Rock is more relevant than a small-town music blog, but just because they are an iconic, kick-ass monster rock band doesn't mean it's imprudent to point out that it's fucking lame to release an album exclusively through Walmart. So I stand by my assertion that an awesome video of them rocking very hard from thirty years ago is irrelevant to the topic.

dan

Agreed on all counts. Pure fantastic rock and roll will certainly trump this little blog o' mine. Anyone's blog, really, small town or otherwise.

However, anyone hoping the Walmart exclusive will contain said "pure, fantastic rock and roll" is either a Walmart executive, delusional or both.
