Redneck Lawnmower Racing at the Bradford Fair [276]

7/20/12: It's Friday night at The Connecticut Valley Fairgrounds in Bradford and the sound of lawn mowers fills the air - but these aren't your average mowers. The members of the Redneck Lawnmower Racing club compete throughout the summer but the Bradford Fair is a chance to show off their need for speed to bigger crowds. Eva catches up with the speed demons to find out what drives them.

Ken Leslie's Gold Dome Cycle [275]

7/16/12: For the past year, artist Ken Leslie has been visiting the Vermont State House in Montpelier every other week to work on his Gold Dome Cycle.

He climbs 201 stairs to its highest point, above the gold dome and below Ceres' feet, and paints one section of the view into the pages of his circular book.

The finished work will show a 360 degree panorama of Montpelier made in 365 days. Eva visits with Ken in the "drum of the dome" and watches the final page come to life.

Sun Boxes in Vermont State Parks [274]

7/7/12: Artist Craig Colorusso has traveled the country with his solar-powered sun boxes.  When the sun is out, each of the 20 speakers emits a different note. When the sun goes away, they are silent.

Colorusso brings this sound installation to the Green Mountains with Sun Boxes in Vermont State Parks.  Eva caught up with them at Elmore State Park in Lake Elmore.  Their next stop is Grand Isle State Park from July 13-15.
