3/10/10: Residents at Wake Robin, a retirement community in Shelburne, have been maintaining a Sugar Shack in the woods since 1998 when resident Ed Wheeler organized CVU students to help build the structure.
65 and older residents tap over 100 trees for sap, boil it down and strain about 26 gallons each season.
Eva gets a lesson in syrup making and has a shot (or two) of their sweet nectar.
3/6/10: We revisit Peter King, also known as "The Tiny House Guy" thanks to a Stuck in VT video that went viral last winter. Peter has built 11 tiny houses since we saw him last but is not super pleased with his new moniker.
We also meet Dale Helms who is downsizing with his wife from their 2,400 square foot home to a 1,200 square foot home. While they build the smaller house, they will live in a 400 sq ft home that Peter helped them build. With the help of this tiny house, they hope to eliminate their debt.
With the economy in shambles and foreclosures running rampant, tiny houses seem more relevant than ever. But Peter has some ideas that are even bigger than his tiny houses.
2/24/10: 2/24/10: Winter after winter, the Department of Public Work's Street Department keeps Burlington's roadways and sidewalks clear of snow and ice.
Eva hitches a ride with snowplow operator Lorand Codrean and they take a spin around the city.
2/20/10: Ever wonder where Olympic ice skaters come from? From places like the Champlain Valley Skating Club which is a home for both young Olympic hopefuls and mature skaters. These adults don't expect to compete in the Olympics. They just love to skate.

1/17/10: Cysts Happen, but what do you need to know if they happen to you?
After having a melon-sized ovarian cyst removed this summer, Eva spoke to other women who have experienced ovarian cysts and to her surgeon Cheung Wong, MD, the Director of Gynecologic Oncology at Fletcher Allen Health Care. Why do ovarian cysts happen? What types are there? What treatments are available? And what about ovarian cancer?
Women need to be their own advocates when it comes to their health. So if something feels wrong in your body, tell your doctor.

1/11/10: Vermont actor Kent Cassella splits his time between his home in Vermont and the set of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Kent has been an uncredited stand-in for lead actor Dann Florek for the past 11 seasons and occasionally has some credited roles with dialogue, but he is always on the look out for juicy roles.
You may also have seen Kent performing locally in Vermont Stage Company's King Lear.

12/11/09: EatingWell Media Group are a national magazine, website, and cookbook publisher in Charlotte Vermont. This year they are releasing a new cookbook called EatingWell 500 Calorie Dinners which is soon to be featured on QVC.

7/4/09: Lake Champlain Walleye Association and Vermont Fish & Wildlife have been working for decades to increase the population of walleyes in the lake and its surrounding rivers.
Thursday they harvested a St Albans pond of 12,500 walleye fingerlings which will be making their way into the Winooski River.
Editor's Note: My good friend and fellow filmmaker Keith Wilson of Walleye Productions makes a brief appearance in this video.
6/23/09: Pete's Greens is a four season organic vegetable farm in Craftsbury. Eva talks to Pete and Meg about the current farming trend, local food as the new growth industry in rural areas and the idea that VT could one day feed itself.

4/28/09 Disc golf, a harmless pastime or a public nuisance? A debate has been raging in Burlington (pro and con) about a proposed 18-hole disc golf course at Leddy Park.
Eva travels to the Johnson State College disc golf course and proposed holes at Leddy Park to see what all the fuss is about.

4/17/09: Every Friday, a group of 6th-8th graders air a news broadcast called SBNN, the South Burlington Network News, for the student body at Tuttle Middle School.
They recently won two spots in a national C-SPAN StudentCam video contest for their work.
In the ever changing media landscape, are these tech saavy students our future?

3/21/09: COTS, The Committee on Temporary Shelter, has been unable to house the growing population of homeless Vermont residents.
Champlain College is in the process of transforming the former Eagle's Club into student housing. In the interim, they have donated the space to COTS as a temporary shelter which will house 10 families and 16 individuals.
The community came together to transform this empty building into a warm, colorful place where children will be living.

11/14/08: So you want to be on TV? In Burlington Vermont VCAM, Vermont Community Access Media, has been providing media tools and education to the general community for years.
Eva, a former producer of The Deadbeat Club, talks to other cable access producers about the magic of television and the freedom of self-expression.
2/7/09: Lubiana's Bridal is a 30 year old multi-generational family business in Barre Vermont. Lubiana and her sister Anna came to Barre from Italy when their father got a gig sculpting granite.
Now Lubiana's daughter Tania helps run the joint and brides to be come from all over the region to try on the taffeta, ruffles and bows and make their bridal dreams come true.
